Snow sessions around the world - Megan Oldham, Canada
Celebrating snow fall around the world we asked our athletes to give us a snow report. Whether they are riding winter wonderlands, pristine parks, or cruising the mountain these ladies are cruising through the winter in style! We caught up with Megan Oldham one of our Canadian freeskiers coming out of Ontario who made history in 2023 for being the first woman to successfully complete a triple-cork 1440. Coming off this historic win we got a glimpse of Megan’s life on the competition circuit.
1.Where are you located at this moment and what mountain (or city) are you in?
I am currently located in Mammoth, California and riding the beautiful and snowy Mammoth Mountain.
2. Snow report! How is the snow there? What are the conditions like?
The snow report is epiccccc! Mammoth is currently engulfed in snow, in fact the most snow I have ever seen in a ski town. I witnessed snow covering people's front doors and 4 to 5 feet of snow being shoveled off roofs. As for the mountain, expect fluffy snow, fast conditions, and scenic tree runs. Dress warm though because wind can be expected.
3.What makes that place special, and why did you want to visit there?
What makes this place so special is all its natural features and diverse terrain. The large mountain includes everything from beginner terrain to steep and challenging backcountry runs. Not only that, but it’s filled with natural features like wind lips tree jibs, and tons of fun and bumpy tree runs. I came here to visit for a competition but fell in love with mountain as a whole.
4.What do you like about the ROXY piece you are wearing?
What I like about the ROXY On the Mountain kit is that Mammoth can be windy at times and the Gore-Tex material keeps me dry and doesn’t allow any wind to sneak in. I was faced with a few cold days on the mountain but wasn’t even fazed for a second. Toasty for the entire day:)
5. Is there anything you’re looking forward to for the remainder of the season?
I am really looking forward to Spring Battle in March which is an event in Austria where a huge group of girls get to ride together and submit ski video entries for different trick categories. I love this event because it's rare to get a large group of girls shredding the hill together, laughing, and having a good time.
